John 10:3-5 AMPC
The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out. [4] When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. [5] They will never [on any account] follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers or recognize their call.
Recognising and following the Voice of Jesus in this day and age is becoming more and more vital.
There are so many conflicting arguments about right and wrong.
Long held values on morality, sexuality are being challenged and replaced by delusional ideas.
Am I able to discern Jesus' Voice amidst the clamour for my attention and allegiance?
My dear mum was brought up on a farm and often had the privilege of feeding orphaned lambs.
She gave them pet names and lovingly nurtured them until fully grown.
She said that, even after they had re-joined the herd, they still knew her voice.
They would come running across the field to see her when she called their names.
Incredibly, Jesus has called me by name.
If I am his true sheep I will heed His Voice above all others and run after Him.
Sadly, there have been many times when I've gotten lost, but He has lovingly come to find me and extricated me from the traps and snares laid by Satan.
O how I love my Good Shepherd!
May I follow more devotedly and closely as "The Day" approaches.
We have Jesus' promise:
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:18
May I be ever listening, able to follow in His footsteps.
Isaiah 30:21
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
