Whose eyes?

Judges 17:6 AMPC

In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes.

1 Kings 15:11 AMPC

And Asa did right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father [forefather].

1 Kings 16:25 AMPC

But Omri did evil in the eyes of the Lord, even worse than all who were before him.

Proverbs 15:3 AMPC

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

These are days when everything we do is being monitored, whether we like it or not.

You can't even sit for a cup of coffee without your name bring taken on the pretext of track and trace.

Big brother is watching you! Your social media activity, even your household conversations (good old Alexa) are all monitored.

Yet, there is no check on an individual's morality as, never more than now, everyone does what's right in their own eyes.

But the eyes that really count are the Eyes of the Lord.

More than Government, Big Tech or even hackers spying, God's Eyes are watching all that we do, say, think or feel.

Genesis 6:5

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

It's His Eyes that matter.

The Bible tells us that there are books in Heaven where all we do is recorded.

One day those books will be opened as we face the scrutiny of God's appraisal of our lives.

Revelation 20:12 AMPC

I also saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done [their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavours] in accordance with what was recorded in the books.

What an intimidating, humiliating and frightening experience - especially if we've lived only for what's right in our own eyes, and ignored God's guidelines of universal love.

Psalm 130:3-4 AMPC

If You, Lord, should keep account of and treat [us according to our] sins, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You [just what man needs], that You may be reverently feared and worshiped.

Thankfully, blessedly and miraculously, there is a way to escape that awful judgement - through the Cross of Jesus we can have our record wiped clean.

Being "born again" means a fresh start at life:

2 Corinthians 5:17 AMPC

Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

It means that when the Eyes of the Lord look at us, He sees Jesus!

May we all be found in such a state when those books are opened.

Selah!
