Who's reading who?

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

It was a very interesting thought - do we read the Bible or do we let the Bible read us?

I discussed this with my nearest and dearest, when he talked about me reading the Bible daily.

The above scripture makes it plain that God's word is extremely powerful cutting through all self pretence and revealing the Truth.

It's really true, the Bible does expose our deepest thoughts and motives - acting as a spiritual GPS, showing us the Way from where we are [dead in our trespasses and sin] to eternal life through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

There is a Psalm which states: in your light we see light:

Psalm 36:9

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

We looked at the scripture "God is light" in yesterday's Word from the Pillow.

Wonderfully, Jesus, who declared He is the Light of the World, promises to show us the way:

John 8:12

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Jesus' "reading" light, examines our hearts and the scalpel of His Word cuts away offensive things like resentment, anger, unforgiveness and on and on.

The good news is that it is not a harsh, blinding light - but a light that will lead us to the right way to walk.

Thought: Let Jesus' word read me today! What is my life saying to Him?
