Matthew 21:10-11 NKJV
And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?" [11] So the multitudes said, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."
O That people in our town would start asking this question about Jesus.
The truth is most people couldn't care less.
Daily life has immunised them to the importance of knowing who Jesus is.
Moreover, to our great shame, young folk grow up hardly knowing what Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday is all about.
Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs are the focus of attention.
However, the easiest slot in which to place Jesus is as a prophet, philosopher or teacher.
True, His words are Spirit and Life, and He spoke of prophetic end times events yet to come.
But to label Him as "just a prophet" is the greatest mis-identification of all.
John the Baptist said it right:
"Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world!"
John 1:29-34 NKJV
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! [30] This is He of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.' [31] I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptising with water." [32] And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. [33] I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptise with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptises with the Holy Spirit.' [34] And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."
Recognising and accepting who Jesus is will be the pivot of my and your life.
Ask this question anew today:
"Who is this Jesus?"
