When to stay silent

Mark 15:3-5 NKJV

And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing. [4] Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!" [5] But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled.

Our wonderful Saviour knew how to handle every situation, every person and each accusation.

It's so easy to want to stand up against false accusations and try to exonerate ourselves, isn't it?

Yet Jesus proved that there is a time to remain silent and let that silence prove more than a thousand words could do.

Being silent can prevent an escalation of an argument or row.

It can dissipate anger and provide the necessary space for objective thought.

Jesus knew not to waste His words on those who had already made up their minds about Him.

He didn't engage with wicked leaders - particularly Herod:

Luke 23:9 NKJV

Then he (Herod) questioned Him (Jesus) with many words, but He answered him nothing.

We need the Holy Spirit's guidance to know when, what and if to speak or reply.
