Psalm 91:1 NKJV
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
When the sun blazes down and it's too hot, we look for shade - something large that casts a shadow where we can escape those scorching rays.
In our garden at noonday, the shed casts a big enough shadow in which we can place a table and 2 chairs.
It's just enough for us to sit and eat when the sun is at its hottest.
Then we are able to stay cool on the warmest day.
When we trust in the Lord we find that He casts a shade that fits perfectly over us in every situation.
The trial may be long and about to scald the skin off our faith, but we find shelter and blessed relief under the "wings" of the Almighty.
This Psalm is well-worn for good reason - it has been attributed to Moses and David.
Both knew the scorching sun of the wilderness and were faced with extreme pressure from fellow Hebrews and enemies!
They knew where to run for cover spiritually and found that safety in God's Presence.
May I learn more and more to stay under God's Eternal "Wings" amidst the burning sun of these chaotic and confusingly hard times.
