What if?

Psalm 124:1-8

What if the LORD had not been on our side? Let all Israel repeat: What if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us? They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger. The waters would have engulfed us; a torrent would have overwhelmed us. Yes, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very lives. Praise the LORD, who did not let their teeth tear us apart! We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free! Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

This Psalm encourages us to look back and recall the many times that the Lord has rescued us from trials that threatened to overwhelm us.

The "What ifs" of our lives inspire gratefulness and keeps us humble, relying on our precious Lord Jesus for E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!

How many times has God diverted or delayed us, saving us from a car accident? How many times has the Lord blocked our path or shut the door, preventing us from making a massive mistake in our lives?

Recently I discovered something about someone I was putting my trust in for a business venture.

This was over 20 years ago and I've only just discovered that this person was dishonest!

I had mourned the loss of the venture and prayed for it to happen, BUT GOD, in his foreknowledge prevented it, because He knew the reality of the situation.

It was one of my "What ifs"!

I praise God for His intervention, which seemingly caused me so much sadness, but was ultimately for my good!

God is faithful!

Look back today on your life and recount the goodness of God in your own "what ifs"...
