Psalm 6:7-8 NKJV
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. [8] Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
Hold onto grief too long and it will age us - the Bible says so.
There's a time to weep and a time to refrain from weeping.
Ecclesiastes 3:4 NKJV
A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance
We're in day 5 of the Shiva for our beloved Roki - taken from us so suddenly and tragically.
We gave ourselves the space and permission to mourn and let the tears flow - it's a healing process for sure.
Yet, if grief keeps a stranglehold for too long, it will drain away the resources of life.
We must emerge from the belly of that whale of sorrow that has swallowed us up.
Pray that the Lord spews us out of that debilitating grief and casts us out on the shore where we can be on His mission once more - whatever it is.
There are wells of deep compassion and understanding that are dug when we experience sad episodes in our lives.
These are hard "lessons" indeed.
But if we let the trial have its perfect work we are forever changed for the better.
Be assured you are being prepared to share that experience with some hurting person up ahead on the road of life.
2 Corinthians 1:3-6 NKJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. [5] For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. [6] Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
