What do I expect?

Hebrews 11:6 AMPC

But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

I want to be found believing.

If I don't have active faith I won't expect anything when I pray.

My prayers will be lifeless and dull without believing that God is listening and active in response.

Faith is tested. Yes, there are times when it seems like nothing is happening. Much like in winter the trees and plants in the garden seem dead and lifeless.

Yet, be assured, even in our winter times, God is proactive and on the move:

Jeremiah 1:11-12 AMPC

Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said, I see a branch or shoot of an almond tree [the emblem of alertness and activity, blossoming in late winter]. [12] Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.

The image God gave Jeremiah was of the shoot of an almond tree, blossoming in late winter.

It had been a long slog of endurance for Jeremiah going through many hard times, but the Lord gives blessed reassurance at the right time, to emphasise that His plans are progressing.

There are times when I need to hold onto the precious promises in the Word and even through gritted teeth EXPECT God's intervention and answer to prayer.

Today, what am I expecting?

Pray believing God's help is on the way.
