2 Chronicles 20:2-3 AMPC
It was told Jehoshaphat, A great multitude has come against you from beyond the [Dead] Sea, from Edom; and behold they are in Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi. [3] Then Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself [determinedly, as his vital need] to seek the Lord; he proclaimed a fast in all Judah.
How must the people of Ukraine feel right now? The unthinkable is happening right before their eyes.
We sit here in our relative safety feeling feeble and hamstrung.
I personally know 2 very lovely Ukrainians whose family are in the thick of the conflict.
What can I do? So often we say "all we can do is pray", as if prayer is like putting coins in a cosmic fruit machine - hoping for luck at the spin of a wheel!
I can't pick up a gun or throw a grenade, but prayer is a very real weapon that moves the Hands of the Almighty.
The Lord has His Armies, mighty to overthrow tyrants. A look down the corridors of history will show the sorry ultimate demise of all cruel dictators: Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi!
Let's not be daunted as we throw ourselves on Jesus.
Prayer changes things.
Pray for peace and protection of the innocent. Pray for confusion in the ranks of the enemy.
Pray for those in fear to turn to Jesus for help.
NATO may not be on hand, but the Lord is near to the oppressed and on the side of the weak.
He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
Isaiah 40:29
Lord God encourage us to pray for so called hopeless situations. Increase our faith to call on the name of Jesus at these times. Jesus You are the Prince of Peace.
