What are you hearing?

Jesus Speaks about the future in Matthew 24:Verses 1-2

As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings. But he responded, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!”

Jesus' Words are "24K carat gold reliable" - when He sat down and discussed the events heralding the end of the world with His disciples, He was speaking as if events had already happened because, as God, He had come from the eternal NOW, outside of our time and space.

Indeed, in Revelation 22:13 He is called the the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning & the End.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

As they looked at the grandeur of the Temple, it must have seemed impossible to the disciples that every stone would be destroyed. Yet the events in verses 1 & 2 have happened, just as He said.

Here is the quote from Wikipedia:

"The siege of Jerusalem in the year 70 AD was the decisive event of the First Jewish–Roman War, in which the Roman army captured the city of Jerusalem and destroyed both the city and its Temple."

Matthew 24:3 continues - Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

4 Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8 But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

Of course, we are seeing Jesus' words coming to pass before our eyes. More and more wars, more and more disasters. Jesus said that is what we would hear, as the world goes into "labour" at the end of the age ... these episodes are now more frequent than ever.

Friends, it's only going to get worse.. but we hold onto Jesus' words.. "don't panic"!

Watching the news from Afghanistan over the past few days, seeing the tragedy unfold - it makes us keenly aware that the distress of nations is gathering speed globally.

Let's hear the cry of our fellow believers trapped in tortuous situations and pray for help, deliverance & courage in the face of persecution.

Prayer

Father God, in your great mercy, reach out to those trapped in unbelievable suffering. Make a way for escape, where there seems to be no way. Keep them in our hearts and in our prayers daily. We pray everything in the Precious Name of Jesus.
