What am I wearing?

Matthew 22:10-14 NLT

So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests. [11] "But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn't wearing the proper clothes for a wedding. [12] 'Friend,' he asked, 'how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?' But the man had no reply. [13] Then the king said to his aides, 'Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' [14] "For many are called, but few are chosen."

Being properly dressed for Heaven matters.

So should we all go online and look for something new to wear?

It is interesting that the king in the parable takes note of each guest, even though the place is full.

It seemed that someone had gatecrashed the wedding feast without being properly dressed.

This is a very enigmatical part of the story...

Isaiah 61:10-11

I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns His head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

I believe Jesus is showing, in the story, that we can't wear our own goodness in God's Presence, we need Him to clothe us in His goodness, perfect and pure.

How is this done? ONLY by coming via the Cross of Jesus, where He laid down His Life for each one of us.

Come in any other way and you'll be rejected from the banquet in no uncertain terms.

My Hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus blood and righteousness

I dare not trust the sweetest frame

But wholly lean on Jesus' Name
