1 Kings 19:11-12 NKJV
Then He (Yahweh) said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD." And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; [12] and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
So much "noise" of war, riots and unease in the news near and far.
It's hard to hear what God is saying to us at this time of global unrest.
We need to quieten our hearts before the Lord because His "Still Small Voice" is still speaking, but distractions and deceptions abound.
Elijah, in the passage before us, had become very depressed and disillusioned even after the great victory over the prophets of Baal.
In his spiritual exhaustion he had run from the violent threats of Jezebel.
1 Kings 19:2-3 NKJV
Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time." [3] And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
There, hiding in the wilderness, feeling very alone, God fed him supernaturally and gave him rest.
Then He spoke in a still small voice.
In a collapsing society it's easy to feel overwhelmed - but, listen, God is still speaking in His Word.
Hang on to the promises in Scripture for each and every Word will come to pass.
May we stand before the Lord and really absorb what He is saying to us.
We are not defeated or outnumbered - Jesus plus one is a majority!
John 16:33 NKJV
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
