Proverbs 12:25 AMPC
Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad.
There are certainly so many worries and anxieties queuing up to to weigh us down right now.
It can seem overwhelming, just like a physical ball and chain we're dragging around all day and night.
Deuteronomy 28:67
In the morning you will say, "If only it were evening!" and in the evening, "If only it were morning!"--because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights that your eyes will see.
We are surrounded by people gripped with fear and worry, especially as we begin to see the devastation caused by the COVID debacle!
As believers in Jesus we are called to be bearers of encouraging words of hope in the midst of despair.
In the same way that negative words can ruin a day, in contrast an encouraging word can lift the gloom.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says God loves a cheerful giver - this applies to many things, not just to money or gifts.
Cheerfully giving an encouraging word or smile can light up the gloom for a lost soul.
Maybe it can be the difference between life and death as so many are contemplating suicide when facing despair.
Be a light bearer in this dark world.
