Isaiah 40:27-29 AMPC
Why, O Jacob, do you say, and declare, O Israel, My way and my lot are hidden from the Lord, and my right is passed over without regard from my God? [28] Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. [29] He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].
"To those who have no might He increases strength"... that was the Word I heard just now as I thought about those caught up up in the terrible conflict.
They must feel like God has forgotten them - that He has turned His face away from them!
How weary and desolate must they feel in the face of losing everything?
For those fighting against the invasion, hopelessly outnumbered, determined to keep on fighting without the weaponry of that arrayed against them, they do indeed need the Lord to increase their strength.
We see President Zelensky appealing to governments for help, to give their army more fire power - planes to help gain air superiority - all falling on deaf ears.
Here is his desperate appeal:
"Zelensky branded the attack an "atrocity" and pleaded again for a no-fly zone to protect his country.
Sharing harrowing footage of the scene inside the hospital, he said: "Direct strike of Russian troops at the maternity hospital. People, children are under the wreckage. Atrocity!
"How much longer will the world be an accomplice ignoring terror? Close the sky right now! Stop the killings! You have power but you seem to be losing humanity."
Zelensky has repeatedly urged the US and Nato to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine."
While people die indiscriminately during the bombings, politicians pontificate and clap their hands at the perceived bravery - but do very little in response.
What must it feel like?
Although they don't have air superiority, we can supply prayer superiority - stand with the people of Ukraine:
Father God, You promised in Your Word that You will help those who have no might (the children, the old, the frail, the sick) - please do miracles on their behalf in the face of impossible odds. Shake the fearful and complacent governments out of their inaction. This we ask in Jesus' name.
