Psalm 103:15 NLT
Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die.
Psalm 103:15 NKJV
As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
Psalm 103:15 TPT
Our days are so few, and our momentary beauty so swiftly fades away!
As we arrive to our "sunset years", looking back, it only seems 5 minutes since we were starting out in life - going to school, with many hopes and dreams before us.
Then we start to lose loved ones from our lives and we're reminded that "we're not here forever".
We have some tiger irises in our garden. Their flowers are so very beautiful, but they only last for a day - they so quickly fade and die.
Other flowers, with nurture, last throughout the summer.
Yet, even now, the red barron grass is beginning to fade, it's past its best!
Soon it will be dried up and finished.
The Bible rightly compares our earthly life span to grass and flowers - very brief.
I think the COVID issue woke a lot of people up to the fact that life is short and uncertain and should be cherished.
But has this now been superceded and forgotten with the stress of making ends meet!
Looking the facts full in the face will make us wise and turn us to eternal matters.
Psalm 90:12 NLT
Teach us to realise the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
Father God, thank You for this new day where You've given us the breath of life in our lungs. Keep our eyes fixed on eternal values of faith, hope and love. Help us to make the most of our time here on earth for Your Glory.
Matthew 6:30 NKJV
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
