John 15:5-8 NLT
"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. [6] Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. [7] But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! [8] When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
A friend brought us some lovely flowers when he came for supper.
He told us that, if we leave them in water undisturbed, they will last up to 3 weeks. That's pretty awesome for cut flowers.
We, as followers of Jesus, are not to be like cut flowers.
Jesus told us to remain united to Him - to abide in the soil of His love.
Only then can we be friutful during our earthly lives.
We are so different to plants, aren't we?
You never see a plant uproot itself and move around somewhere else. It is entirely in the hands of the gardener - it has no will of its own.
So only when we let our Heavenly Father plant us in Jesus, tend and prune us, do we become friut-bearers.
I want to last the course and finish this earthly race united with Jesus. Father God, please help me to abide in Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit and be fruitful.
