John 13:3-4,8 NLT
Jesus knew that the Father had given Him authority over everything and that He had come from God and would return to God. [4] So He got up from the table, took off His robe, wrapped a towel around His waist, [8] "No," Peter protested, "You will never ever wash my feet!" Jesus replied, "Unless I wash you, you won't belong to Me."
It can be very humiliating to let someone else wash you.

All of us cling to our independence until there's no other choice.
But when it comes to our sin problem we HAVE to let Jesus wash us and make us clean.
As with physical washing, some stains go so deep that only a special stain remover can clean it.

Peter had an issue with Jesus washing his feet - but Jesus stated clearly:
"Unless I wash you, you won't belong to Me."
We can't wash away our own sins, we have to let Him into the secrets of our inner self and let Him continually wash us.
Yesterday I was a mess - really irritable and touchy - I needed to turn myself over for an extra special washing by Jesus.
He can do this because I belong to Him ... So can anyone who lets Jesus wash them.
What a wonderful thing to know He's made me clean and taken away my guilt forever.
