Psalm 19:7-11 AMPC
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. [8] The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes. [9] The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. [10] More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb. [11] Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.
Today scientific knowledge is venerated much like a religion.
Professors with letters after their names, as long as your arm, are invited to give their opinions on the state of the world and what should be done.
Until his death in 2018, Stephen William Hawking CH CBE FRS FRSA, was always spouting his theories via his robotic voice, and people listened in awe.
He was treated as mega-wise, intelligent with special insight - yet this was his conclusion:
"“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail,” he told the Guardian. “There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.”
It could be said of him:
2 Corinthians 4:4, NIV: The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
We are, however, made in the image of God - body, soul and spirit - Hand-made with living, breathing "components".
Even simple folk like me are made wise by devotion to the Lord:
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The pursuit of knowledge without God leads to a dead end!
Basing and building life on Jesus and His Word is the key to everything in this world and the next.
The world deceives with its godless theories - see Stephen Hawkings' "The Theory of Everything".
But believers in Jesus stand, not on theories, but on THE TRUTH, and, so are being made wise, no matter what their education.
Hallelujah to that!
