Psalm 27:14 NKJV
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
Yesterday was a day of "waiting".
Waiting in A & E for my nearest and dearest to be checked out after a fall.
We waited after being booked in at reception and sat amongst a sea of people with various kinds of conditions.
We waited after a nurse recorded the symptoms and surrounding circumstances.
We waited for an ECG and blood test.
Then we waited for the doctor to diagnose these results.
Some waited patiently, some needed Police restraint, some needed a wheelchair, some were in distress, but ALL were forced to wait.
So with the Christian walk with Jesus - many times all we can do in a situation is pray then wait for the Lord's answer.
Of course we know that our Almighty God can answer immediately, but He has better plans for us.
Waiting is like being in a spiritual gym, developing courage and faith, it is strengthening us, as the verse from the Psalm says.
No pain, no gain as the saying goes!
Always know that the answer is coming and wait patiently.
Interestingly, when we reached the Majors Assessment waiting room, food and drink was supplied free of charge for those waiting. The NHS realised that waiting is a wearing experience.
Our Lord is far greater than any earthly organisation. He provides spiritual sustenance from His Word as we wait on Him:
Isaiah 40:29,31 NKJV
He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. [31] But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Psalm 43:5 NKJV
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
All of us who are waiting on the Lord need to have a talk with ourselves and encourage patient, positive waiting.
Hebrews 10:35-36 NLT
So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! [36] Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
God will never fail us.
See you in the waiting room!
Hallelujah!
