Luke 2:7 AMPC
And she gave birth to her Son, her Firstborn; and she wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room or place for them in the inn.
I was curious about these "swaddling clothes" - the Bible gives us these details for a reason.
Excuse my ignorance, but apparently, even today, new born babies are often swaddled.
For the baby Jesus, the "swaddling" was done with strips of cloth to restrict the baby's movements and to stop any potential injury during sleep.
After being in the womb for 9 months it is also a comfort to the child.
However, I found this article which gives a new, prophetic insight:
For me, it was a another revelation on Jesus' birth.
Now for a personal thought:
Am I still keeping Jesus under "swaddling" wraps in my life?
Do people see Jesus in me? Do I let His Voice be heard?
Am I restricting His movements, His Power to change and renew me daily?
Jesus is no longer a helpless baby, needing protection and nurture.
He is the coming King of kings and it is my sinful nature that needs to be "swaddled" subdued and Jesus needs unrestricted access to all areas of my life.
Psalm 139:23-24 AMPC
Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! [24] And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
