When I can't decide about something, the saying "I'm in 2 minds about it" describes my thoughts.
Sometimes it does seem as if I have 2 minds!
Paul alludes to this in:
Romans 7:18 AMPC For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. [I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.]
Yesterday, I became really irritable when I went too long without food.
To my great shame, I behaved horribly toward my nearest and dearest.
At the time, it was as if there were two of me struggling for control of my words and actions and the old me won!
Romans 7:24, NLT:
Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?
The last thing I looked like, at that time, was a follower of Jesus.
But there is hope, because Jesus finished the work of salvation on the Cross. Indeed His last words on the Cross were: "It is finished" - not "I am finished".
He accomplished the task of dealing with my sinful, rebellious spirit, on the Cross.
There He dealt a death blow to my fleshly nature.
And, like a Master Carpenter, chiseling away at a rough chunk of wood, He is busy carving out His image in my life.
There are bits that are ugly and gnarly in my life still to cut away.
I'm far from the finished carving, but I'm a work in progress.
You can still see part of the old chunk of wood at times, but, thank God, part of Jesus' image is slowly emerging!
Romans 8:1-4
So there is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 For the power of the life-giving Spirit—and this power is mine through Christ Jesus—has freed me from the vicious circle of sin and death. 3 We aren’t saved from sin’s grasp by knowing the commandments of God because we can’t and don’t keep them, but God put into effect a different plan to save us. He sent his own Son in a human body like ours—except that ours are sinful—and destroyed sin’s control over us by giving himself as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 So now we can obey God’s laws if we follow after the Holy Spirit and no longer obey the old evil nature within us.
