Twisting words

Psalm 56:1-5

Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack. My adversaries pursue me all day long;

in their pride many are attacking me. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid.

What can mere mortals do to me? All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin.

Have you noticed how the tables are being turned upon God's order in creation?

If you speak up for what is now known as "traditional" marriage between a man and a woman or state that a child is best raised in a home with a mother and a father - you are now cast as a bigot!

There was a case thrown out by the Court of Appeal yesterday, where a man had been dismissed as a magistrate and from his seat on a NHS Trust simply because he expressed those views!

He appealed the dismissal, but the court upheld the decision for his sacking.

This guy, a retired missionary, who had fostered children from difficult backgrounds and lovingly nurtured them together with his wife for years, is an outcast and labelled homophobic.

It seems incredible that, within a few short years, our country has had its Christian roots torn out!

The subtlety of the assault on Christian values is a hallmark of satan.

From the very beginning he has used the ploy of twisting words in order to make good look evil and evil look good!

But God isn't fooled - His boundaries don't change:

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,

who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Now more than ever we need to pray for our land and stand up for what is true.

Pray for Richard Page, (he is the man in question) for his fight may be our fight one day.

We shouldn't be surprised at what is happening in our world, for it is described in part in 2 Thessalonians 2 - people are being deluded because they have rejected what is true:

Verse 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshipped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
