Luke 12:34-35 AMPC
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Where's your treasure?
I ask myself this question, quietly in the secret chamber of my own heart.
What do I prize above all else?
This takes a lot of thought to really answer with honesty and integrity.
It is a burning question at this time of loss.
People are losing businesses that they've worked for all their lives, investments in shares and pensions, even property values are falling.
Where's your treasure?
Relationships are being destroyed by separation or sickness or death.
Where's your treasure?
Gradually our own physicality is being eroded by time or disease! Looking in the mirror, as we grow older, we can often say to ourselves: "who's that staring back at me"? We feel the same person as in our youth, but time has robbed us of our vigour.
Where's your treasure?
Jesus warns of the futility of laying up treasure on earth where moth and rust can corrupt Matthew 6:19
Anything, yes, anything tangible in this life is exposed to loss in some way shape or form.
It can be snatched from us at any moment.
There's a place where you can invest without fear of loss - the Kingdom of Heaven!
So where is this place? How do I "invest"?
Matthew 25 verse 32-46 gives us an insight. This is where our heavenly "investments" will be examined. It's a sobering read.
Where's your treasure?
Our salvation is a free gift of grace, but how we invest that gift thereafter - the onus is on us.
Putting Jesus first and how we treat others is shown in our balance in the Bank of Heaven.
Am I in credit or overdrawn?
