Toolbox
1 Corinthians 12:5-6 AMPC
And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served]. [6] And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energises them all in all.
Having the right tool for the job makes life so much easier.
My dad always had his workshop and shed packed with many different types of tools.
As a kid I was his "go-for" when he was working. So early on I was familiar with a bradawl, tinsnips or feeler gauges and knew when to use these and where to find them.
Our Heavenly Father has His own toolbox and you are a special tool in His Hand.
There is something that only YOU can do. Some person only YOU can reach.
A little bradawl may wish it were an electric drill, but without the small hole that the bradawl makes, the electric drill would slip and struggle to drill a hole in the right place.
Every tool in the toolbox is valuable and built for the right instance. Some are used more than others.
If you feel you have been left in lying dormant in God's toolbox for a long time, don't worry, God knows you're there and He has a unique task for you - just stay where you are, close to His Hand and He'll pick you up and use you at the exact moment you're needed.
You are in his plan.
Tools can't boast or quarrel inside the toolbox - what would you make of a spanner saying to a hammer: "you don't belong in this toolbox", or "I'm more important than you!"
In the same way we should have respect and love for each other and our function in Christ's body.
We have a lot to learn from the toolbox!
Philippians 2:3 AMPC
Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves].
