Isaiah 26:1-4 NLT

In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song: Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of God's salvation. [2] Open the gates to all who are righteous; allow the faithful to enter. [3] You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! [4] Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.

Ever been awake at night with thoughts that dart to and fro - from past to future as sleep deserts?

Well that was me last night - tossing and turning - too hot then too cold - remembering everything except verse 3 above:

You (Father God) will keep in perfect peace all (yes, even including me) who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!

What a promise to hold onto....

Who doesn't long for peace - let alone "perfect peace"?

This time of year can be a little crazy with busy stuff to do - things to buy, food to cook, people to invite, cards to write, presents to give - this on top of all the usual chores and daily work.

No wonder thoughts can churn and rob us of peace.

Then there's times of worry and grief that bite savagely for attention as sorrow washes over like the raging torrent of the sea.

Life needs an anchor point or we can go under and be overwhelmed.

Friend, you and I have only one true Solace in these kinds of storms - trust, trust and more trust in the Lord.

Tie thoughts to the Eternal Rock - as hard as it seems repeat God's Word to overcome the chaos.

Our God is a Haven of Rest to ALL who trust in Him.
