The turning tide

James 1:2-4 AMPC

Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. [3] Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. [4] But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

Whatever situation we find ourselves in today, nothing is ever static!

The tide of our life is constantly turning!

We are either coming out of a trial or headed toward a new one.

Our Heavenly Father is constantly chipping away at us, forming the likeness of Jesus in our characters!

These trials encourage us to lean less on our own resources and more on the efficacy of Jesus alone.

We may pray and pray for an issue or obstacle to be removed from our lives - yet it continues to buffet us like the constant pounding of the waves of the sea.

All the while, unknowingly, something miraculous is happening during that pounding!

The ugliness of self reliance and pride is being eroded.

Until we come to see "in Christ alone" is our anchor.

One day the tide will turn forever and we will sail safely into the harbour of His Eternal Love, but until that time, Christ is the Anchor of our Hope.

Hebrews 6:19-20 AMPC

[Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it-a hope] that reaches farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil, [20] Where Jesus has entered in for us [in advance], a Forerunner having become a High Priest forever after the order (with the rank) of Melchizedek.

In Christ alone - let's sing the song:
