1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NKJV
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. [15] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. [16] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. [17] Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. [18] Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Honestly, this passage should be preached at the funeral of each and every believer in Jesus.
Surely this would bring immense comfort to grieving hearts - ones that are wondering where their loved ones are.
This passage is hidden by many pulpits where it should be proclaimed as loudly as John 3:16.
We have been given a glimpse of a future event that will literally shake the world.
That Divine Shout will in fact "wake the dead" in Christ - graves will empty, cremated matter will reform, regenerate miraculously.
Living believers in Jesus will be caught up simultaneously all over the globe.
Imagine the impact this will make across the planet.
How will the news report it? The unexplained disappearance of vast numbers - will not go unnoticed.
Social media be full of theories about what just happened. There will be more chaos than the world has yet seen.
Meanwhile we will see Jesus face to face and be reunited with departed loved ones. What a fantastic meeting that will be.
Truly, daily we should "comfort one another with these words" and not fret for our future is secure in Christ.
Secure yours now by surrendering your life to Jesus at the Cross.
