Matthew 26:27-28 TPT
Then taking the cup of wine and giving praises to the Father, He entered into covenant with them, saying, "This is My Blood. Each of you must drink it in fulfillment of the Covenant. [28] For this is the Blood that seals the New Covenant. It will be poured out for many for the complete forgiveness of sins.
We all must drink from the same "Cup", the Cup of Covenant Forgiveness, no matter how little or how much we have missed God's wholly perfect standard.
Some have more to be forgiven than others, but ALL of us need God's Amazing Grace.
All of us have the tendency to compare ourselves with other greater sinners and breathe a sigh of relief that "I'm not like that person!"....hmmmm...thereby pride raises its ugly head.
But, have I ever been selfish or rude or impatient? Have I ever had hate, resentment or jealousy in my heart towards someone?
Of course I have...
Each of us have "sin crouching at the door of our heart" ready to introduce bad emotions or desires which lead to actions.
Genesis 4:7 NLT
You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master."
That was Cain's problem in the Old Testament.
Jesus made it clear that we all, like Cain, have "heart problems:"
Matthew 5:21-22 NLT
"You have heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.' [22] But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.
Wow! Please pass me that Cup Lord Jesus, I see my need of the New Covenant of forgiveness in Your Blood.
It's humbling for sure, but we all need to drink from that same Cup of Jesus' forgiveness before it's too late.
