The Power of the Cross

1 Corinthians 1:18-21 NLT

The message of the Cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very Power of God. [19] As the Scriptures say, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent." [20] So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. [21] Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never know Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

There are many brilliant minds in this world who are unable to.understand the message and Power of the Cross of Jesus.

To them it is illogical and even foolish to think that someone dying on the instrument of Roman execution, two thousand years ago, could impact our lives today - and even transform the hardest of hearts!

Sitting here I marvel at the "miracle" of faith in my own life - it is the gift of God - so very precious - to be guarded at all costs.

God has deliberately chosen simple faith in the Cross of Jesus as the gateway to eternal life - so no one can boast.

We all must come on bended knee before the amazing grace afforded there.

All our pride must be discarded, all our so called logic laid aside, as we realise our need of forgiveness before a Holy God.

As Jesus was stripped of everything but love as He hung on the Cross, so the Cross strips us of all our excuses and superficial goodness.

We come with nothing to offer but our surrender to that unconditional love.

"Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to your Cross I cling".

That is powerful, the most powerful force in the cosmos.
