14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

Just a brief look at history will show the power of one person.
Right now we see how one man, Vladimir Putin, is causing so much bloodshed in his quest for the glory of Russia.
Tyrants such as Hitler or Stalin generated fear, war and death on a cataclysmic scale.
Yet each was just one solitary person.
Each of us has a sphere of influence - big or small - as we interact, we leave "ripples" in our wake.
Here, in this passage, we see the contrast between Adam and Jesus.
Through Adam, sin entered the human race. With sin each of us are born with a fallen nature and death follows sin.
It wasn't meant to be like that. We were created for an eternal life of perfect communion with God.
However, through Jesus and ONLY through Him, forgiveness and eternal life is restored as we surrender ourself to Him.
The almighty power of One, on the cross, paid the penalty for sin, on an individual basis.
The power of Jesus Christ has turned my life (and billions of others) around and continues to do so, on a moment by moment basis.
This power of One is offered freely to everyone.
We make the choice.
We're either under the influence of Adam for death or Jesus for life - there is no middle ground.
