The Pearl

Matthew 13:45-46 AMPC

Again the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a dealer in search of fine and precious pearls, [46] Who, on finding a single pearl of great price, went and sold all he had and bought it.

Each human heart is on a life long "treasure hunt" - looking for that One thing that will give true meaning to their existence.

Yes, we're all looking for "pearls"!

Lots of things that look like pearls are in fact cheap imitations.

Satan can dangle his attractions in front of us and they look like the real thing, but we'll end up empty and disillusioned.

So many rich and famous can testify that their "pearls" are in fact fake and life is still meaningless.

God has placed this longing for belonging in every heart and we can only find our True Pearl in Jesus.

Solomon, gifted with wisdom, tried to find meaning in so many different ways and he concluded:

Ecclesiastes 1:8 NLT

Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.

Life can feel like a fruitless treasure hunt.

My recommendation is in the words of this song:

I've found the Pearl of Greatest Price

I've found the One who is pure delight

And all the world cannot compare with Him

He won my heart and forgave my sin

Jesus You're my home

You're where I belong

Your Word is my fortress

And Your Love my song

Although I fail You

And fall from grace

I know in Heaven

You've prepared for me a place

End your search at the foot of the Cross and let Jesus be your Eternal Treasure - The Incomparable Pearl!
