The Lord hears, the Lord listens

Psalm 116:1-9

I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the LORD: “Please, LORD, save me!” How kind the LORD is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! The LORD protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and he saved me. Let my soul be at rest again, for the LORD has been good to me. He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. And so I walk in the LORD’s presence as I live here on earth!

We are well used to be heard and listened to - the Google assistant or Alexa are in our homes and on our phones supposedly there to make our lives easier by answering our questions or playing our favourite songs.

Yet there is a much more sinister side to it.

Big tech and Governments are monitoring our behaviours and doing who knows what with that data!

It can make us feel very vulnerable, like a small storm tossed boat out at sea.

How great is it then to belong to Jesus.

He is listening and watching over us with a love filled heart.

We can bring everything to Him and trust Him for eternity.

Small and weak as we are, we are precious in His sight.

He cares for us.

So, at the start of another new day, we can bring it before Him and all that troubles our hearts, and He will listen to our prayers and answer.

No wonder the Psalmist was inspired to write:

I love You Lord, You hear and bend down to listen to my prayers!

This is such an amazing miracle.

It's so much more than a cursory, superficial ear, but a bending down of the Great I AM, in order to look us in the eyes and understand - really hear what our hearts are saying.

Let's pour out our hearts to Him right now.

He is more eager to listen than we are to pray!

Selah.
