John 1:14 AMPC
And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.
Ok, a little confession is good for the soul... I confess that in the humidity of this morning, I fell asleep, during my reading of God's Word and felt guilty!
It wasn't what I wanted to do, but I failed.
Sometimes I question whether I know enough of the Word of God and then the Holy Spirit reminds me of the verse above.
Of course I want to know as much as possible of the written word in the Bible.
Yet I don't need to cram my brain with copious amounts of head knowledge in order to know Jesus
.
Being in "the family" of God is a matter of birth and not an intellectual qualification.
Nicodemus was a very learned man, well versed in the scriptures, but was rebuked by Jesus for not grasping His Words:
John 3:3-4,10 AMPC
Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God. [4] Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb again and be born? [10] Jesus replied, Are you the teacher of Israel, and yet do not know nor understand these things? [Are they strange to you?]
A new nature, a birth from the Holy Spirit is what counts. So that family ties are made with the Son of God.
We all have differing intellectual abilities, but no one is precluded from knowing Jesus on the basis of the lack of head knowledge!
For example, I am a great fan of Arsene Wenger. I can study his life and be familiar with all his history, but that can never be a substitute for a personal encounter.
So I can't say that I KNOW Arsene Wenger because I've never met him. I only know about him.
Yet with Jesus, I can state that I know Him personally. There was a time that I remember my "new birth" from above. Now I talk with Him and He talks with me.
As strange and incomprehensible as it sounds, I am part of His family.
Romans 8:15-16 AMPC
For the Spirit which you have now received is not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in the bliss of which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! [16] The Spirit Himself thus testifies together with our own spirit, assuring us that we are children of God.
How wonderful that Jesus, the Living Word, is living in my heart forevermore.
That relationship is yours for the asking too.
