Proverbs 21:1 AMPC
The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses; He turns it whichever way He wills.
I'm not naturally a royalist, in fact, in history lessons, I was always an Oliver Cromwell fan ("paint me warts and all").
So, when the Lord spoke to me recently to pray for king Charles, it seemed strange.
As prince Charles, he never really appealed to me. I guess I was, at best, indifferent to him.
Yet we read that the king's heart is in the Lord's hand, so it does make sense to pray for him now.
He has an extremely hard task to follow in the Queen's footsteps - an almost impossible one.
We don't know his faith, whether he has a personal relationship with Jesus, but the same Holy Spirit who pointed me to Jesus, can do the same for him.
What we are certain about is that he had a praying mother. I'm sure she prayed that he would guide the nation with faith in Jesus.
Let's hold his heart up before the Lord that he would come to know Jesus in a radical way.
That, in turn, will have an impact for good on our land.
Father God, we pray that king Charles will be guided in his thoughts and actions to follow Jesus. We ask that the Holy Spirit will anoint him to rule with Your wisdom, love and justice. This we ask in Jesus' name.
