Psalm 142:5-7 NKJV
I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. [6] Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I. [7] Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me."
There are many circumstances that imprison the soul.
The root cause of that incarceration is sin, the feeling we that we can do life independently from our Creator.
It leads to the conviction that we don't need to bow the knee to anything or anyone - we are our own god - made in our own image!
We can tell ourselves that we are free from the shackles of worship - but we are beings created for worship - so worship we must - even if it's a "golden calf" of our own making.
Then we find ourselves imprisoned - our souls immured and alienated from the.only true freedom that there is - in Jesus.
He stated loud and clear:
If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.
John 8:36
I feel a bit imprisoned with grief, but I know the answer...run to Jesus...
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
I pray you too will turn to Him who only has the keys to unlock the lonely prison cell in which the soul is confined.
