Proverbs 27:19
As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.
As humans we don't always see things as they really are.
Often we are taken in by "charming" people who know how to flatter and deceive in order to take advantage of us!
Not so with the Lord, He sees the heart of each one of us.
He knows our motives and deepest desires.
Everything is clear and laid bare to Him.
We can even deceive ourselves and not perceive what's going on in our own hearts.
We can be so very lost and yet tell ourselves that we are ok and in need of nothing.
Perhaps that's almost the worst state to be in!
Revelation 3:17 AMPC
For you say, I am rich; I have prospered and grown wealthy, and I am in need of nothing; and you do not realize and understand that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
The saddest state of any heart is to be without the One who came and revealed His Loving Heart on the Cross.
When Jesus' Heart was turned inside out, we see that unconditional love flowed out toward a sinful world.
We need empty, needy hearts in order to be good vessels to catch that love and let it fill and transform our own lives and flow out to others.
The heart of the matter is the matter of the heart!
Take an honest look at your "reflection" in God's Word and realise just how in need you are!
Just ask Jesus to take care of the rest.
