But woe to (alas for) you who are rich ( abounding in material resources), for you already are receiving your consolation (the solace and sense of strengthening and cheer that come from prosperity) and have taken and enjoyed your comfort in full [having nothing left to be awarded you].
Revelation 18:1-3 AMPC
Then I saw another angel descending from heaven, possessing great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his radiance and splendor. [2] And he shouted with a mighty voice, She is fallen! Mighty Babylon is fallen! She has become a resort and dwelling place for demons, a dungeon haunted by every loathsome spirit, an abode for every filthy and detestable bird. [3] For all nations have drunk the wine of her passionate unchastity, and the rulers and leaders of the earth have joined with her in committing fornication (idolatry), and the businessmen of the earth have become rich with the wealth of her excessive luxury and wantonness.
It's incredible that, today, the weath of the world has been amassed by a few big business men and they are
wielding their influence in order to manipulate world affairs.
Not content with their riches, now they have become insatiable for power. Their tendrils have penetrated every government.
This hunger for power has corrupted their souls with utter self obsession for more, more, more!
But there is coming a "great turnaround" which Jesus pronounced and Revelation confirms.
Those who are godless and obscenely wealthy now, without any thought of others are headed for a reversal of cosmic proportions.
We may gaze in wonder at their mega mansions with luxurious furnishings and possessions galore.
Yet we are warned not to get entwined and seduced by these things.
They are an entrapment that detracts from our worship of Jesus.
Revelation 18:4 AMPC
I then heard another voice from heaven saying, Come out from her, my people, so that you may not share in her sins, neither participate in her plagues.
Don't envy the wealth of the wicked, their demise is sealed.
Look to the soon coming King of kings: be rich in His love, joy and peace - that is treasure beyond belief.
