Matthew 22:8-10 NLT
And he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren't worthy of the honour. [9] Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.' [10] So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests.
The story continues with the king's response to the rejection of the original wedding invitation.
He now opens up the feast to "anyone" - that's such excellent news - we're all invited - good and bad alike!
The only proviso is a positive response.
Absolutely everyone that the servants meet receive the invite.
Ok, we, who serve Jesus, can put ourselves in the servants' place.
We have the great commission to "go into all the world and preach the gospel" - tell others the good news that they're invited!
The Scribes and Pharisees would have been dismayed that the "bad" were on the guest list too - for they had accused Jesus of associating with "sinners".
Basically I'm so glad that the bad are included, that counts me in.
Now I'm a servant passing on the invite!
The last chapter of the Bible reiterates this good news:
Revelation 22:17 NLT
The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." Let anyone who hears this say, "Come." Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.
You're invited!
