When I survey the wondrous Cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My riches gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
Galatians 6:14 AMPC
But far be it from me to glory [in anything or anyone] except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) through Whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world!
1 Corinthians 1:18 AMPC
For the story and message of the cross is sheer absurdity and folly to those who are perishing and on their way to perdition, but to us who are being saved it is the [manifestation of] the power of God.
The symbol of the cross is everywhere - on our country's flag, people wear it round their necks & ears, or tattoo it on their bodies.
Yet, unless it is grasped tightly to heart, the cross of Jesus is nothing more than an empty symbol.
What do we see when we look at the cross? What makes the cross of Jesus so different from other crosses?
On that day, 3 were being crucified. Two were rightly being punished. The "good" thief said it right:
"We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Luke 23:41
Until we come to the cross of Jesus for forgiveness, we too deserve to die for our sins.
All of us have let God down and turned our backs on Him.
When we see, with "new" eyes, Jesus being slaughtered on that cross for the sins of the world (personally MY sin) it is staggering, amazing, beyond words.
Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
