The blessing of weakness

Psalm 69:33 NKJV

For the LORD hears the poor, And does not despise His prisoners.

Isaiah 41:14 GNT

The Lord says,

“Small and weak as you are, Israel,

don't be afraid; I will help you.I, the holy God of Israel, am the One who saves you.

Romans 8:26 NKJV

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV

And He (the Lord) said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 13:4 NKJV

For though He (Jesus) was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.

God's Kingdom is upside down to the world.

Watch any action movie and the hero is super fit with bristling muscles, armed to the teeth and crushes the enemy by his own strength.

But then contrast the most powerful event in the history of the Cosmos: the Cross of Jesus.

He was crucified in what looked like overwhelming weakness.

Yet through that act of supreme weakness, billions have been saved down through the ages since.

In the same way, as we surrender our self in utter dependence in the merits of the Cross, that weakness becomes the power of salvation.

Each time we turn to God in desperate weakness we find God's power to deliver us from so many different situations.

Often I have echoed this prayer:

2 Chronicles 20:12 NKJV

O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."

"I don't know what to do, but my eyes are on you" - that prayer of total dependence and weakness, opens the door to the power of the Lord.

Of course it's very humbling to pray like that, but that is where deliverance and salvation is found.

Going deeper with Jesus leads to the revelation of the blessing of weakness.

Oh how glorious to find the power of Christ resting on our lives when we release our independence and throw ourselves on God's mercy and grace.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NLT

Each time He (the Lord) said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. [10] That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Thank You Lord Jesus for the blessing of weakness before Your throne.
