Psalm 103:13 NLT
The LORD is like a father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him.
Psalm 103:13 AMPC
As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe].
Psalm 103:13 TPT
The same way a loving father feels toward his children - that's but a sample of Your tender feelings toward us, Your beloved children, who live in awe of You.
A few weeks ago there was a big discussion about whether or not we should call God "Father". Some so called "learned" theologians, thought it was hard on those who had bad experiences with their earthly fathers. Some had gotten caught up in the woke ideals infiltrating the church and wanted God to be gender neutral!
But let's get it right, shall we?
We don't define the Lord, He self identifies as Father! The Bible is explicit and clear about this in both Old and New Testaments.
Isaiah 64:8 AMPC
Yet, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our Potter, and we all are the work of Your Hand.
When Jesus taught us to pray He said say "our Father":
Matthew 6:9 TPT
Pray like this: ‘Our Beloved Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms, may the glory of Your name be the centre on which our lives turn.
The prophets proclaimed it, Jesus used it, the Holy Spirit inspires it - there's no room for doubt.
Romans 8:15 NLT
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father."
God is the best Dad of all - a Heavenly Dad above all dad's.
We can call on Him at any time of day or night and know that He's there to understand and support us.
Soak up God's Word and let Him redeem the word "Father" to your heart, if you've been scarred by or hurt by an earthly father, the Lord wants to show you what a real father's heart is like.
Abba Father, please reveal Your loving, compassionate heart to every wounded soul. Help us to understand how much You love us. Let us understand Your identity as Jesus taught us.
