The beginnings of sorrows!

And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Matthew 24:6-8

Terrible, terrible scenes of destruction in Turkey and Syria that are continuing today.

How heartbreaking and devastating to see everything destroyed before your eyes: family, friends and homes ripped away in a moment.

Honestly, watching those scenes online made me think of Jesus' words in the passage above.

If this is only the "beginning of sorrows", no one can imagine what is on the horizon as the end of all things approaches.

We may feel safe and secure in our homes, our pensions or investments, but things can quickly change.

The Bible is clear that devastations will come thick and fast like labour pains.

Just as you can't stop a baby when its time has come, so with the end times..

Just a scan of the news will show that these events are gathering pace.

There is only one place of safety and that is in Jesus. His Kingdom is eternal.

Stay close to Him in these scary times... If you don't know Him yet, run like mad into His Refuge:

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah Psalm 46

Pray for the rescuers, pray for those trapped under rubble:

Lord have mercy.
