The Answer

Psalm 81:8-14 NKJV

"Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me! [9] There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god. [10] I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. [11] "But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. [12] So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels. [13] "Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! [14] I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries.

There's a lesson for us all here.

The Lord offers a secret place of safety when we acknowledge Him and walk in His Ways.

But He will not share the Throne of our heart with another - He is God alone.

Multi faith worship is out of the question. " No foreign God" means He has exclusive rights of worship.

This Psalm was primarily addressed to Israel, but can be equally applied to my heart.

Anything or anyone that usurps the first place that belongs to the Lord is a foreign god in El Shaddai's Eyes.

Yet the Lord will not force Himself on us - He is no spiritual "rapist".

If we resist His wooing, He will let us heed our own counsel or the lies of Satan.

He longs for true heart worship, for us to voluntarily bend the knee in loving adoration.

When we experience the love and mercy of Jesus - our own escape from "Egypt" - demonstrated on the Cross for each of us personally, the only proper response is worship.

This is the Answer to life.
