Take heed

1 Corinthians 10:12

Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 

Mark 13:33

Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.

This morning the alarm went off at the usual time, but, I've gotten so used to it, that I quickly turned it off and went back to sleep!

As an insurance, I have a second alarm a bit later - again I ignored it and fell asleep.

It can be like that with God's word too. I can get too familiar with the hearing and not the doing that I fail to heed the Holy Spirit's warnings.

Keeping awake spiritually is vital right now as there are so many confusing and conflicting voices out there to lead us astray.

1 Peter 4:7 AMPC

But the end and culmination of all things has now come near; keep sound minded and self-restrained and alert therefore for [the practice of] prayer.

Jesus wants us awake and ready each and every moment for the hour of His return is nearer than we think.

Lord Jesus, please help me to heed Your "alarm clock" and be ready for You.
