Psalm 41:1-3 AMPC
Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is he who considers the weak and the poor; the Lord will deliver him in the time of evil and trouble. [2] The Lord will protect him and keep him alive; he shall be called blessed in the land; and You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. [3] The Lord will sustain, refresh, and strengthen him on his bed of languishing; all his bed You [O Lord] will turn, change, and transform in his illness.
All of us experience sickness or some illness from time to time. Particularly, we have seen COVID rip through our communities indescriminately.
It's great to know that the Lord will sustain (keep us going) when we are gripped with some disease.
Notice how blessed and protected someone is when they look after the poor and the weak (verse 1). It acts like a guarantee from God, a life insurance, if you like.
Of course our motive for helping others should never be a selfish one, but one of unconditional love.
However, it is great to know that the Lord has our back in troubled times and will always be there for us.
If you are in the midst of languishing in illness right now, realise that Jesus has dealt with every sin and sickness in the cross and by His stripes we are healed.
He will help and restore you.
