Ecclesiastes 3:1,11 NKJV
To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: [11] He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
My absolute favourite wonder is to watch a glorious sunset, especially where the sun is a vibrant red orb, reflecting myriad colours across scattered clouds and a vast expanse of water.
Slowly, imperceptibly, it descends until it disappears below the horizon leaving a golden aura across the sky.
It's the most magical part of the day.
Why then do we not look at life in that way? Why do we long to be young again, to wind back time?
Can we not look at our sunset years as a treasured period, where gathered maturity and faith softens the rough edges of experience and memories?
Wouldn't it be great to be a vibrant red orb of glory to Jesus as we slowly give way to eternity?
Then, even when we've disappeared below the horizon of this world, we will still project a golden glow of love to those we've shared with!
Right now I think of beautiful people in my life whose golden glow still reflects in my "sky" even though some are long gone.
Their memory still inspires and encourages me ever onwards towards eternity with Jesus.
By the grace of God, may our Heavenly Father create a beautiful sunset of each one of us and a golden glow to leave behind.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 NKJV
The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
