Psalm 31:20-21 AMPC
In the secret place of Your presence You hide them from the plots of men; You keep them secretly in Your pavilion from the strife of tongues. [21] Blessed be the Lord! For He has shown me His marvelous loving favour when I was beset as in a besieged city.
Life brings us times when we're stuck and surrounded by circumstances that hem us in on every side.
It may be by responsibilities for loved ones - children or elderly parents, or, perhaps by a job with no prospects where fellow employees are hostile and antagonistic. It could even be by a teacher who takes a dislike to you...
We all face times of being trapped with no way out. Life becomes meaningless, humdrum and drained of joy.
What to do at that point?
I remember these times in my own life - it seemed like I was in solitary confinement and life would always be like that.
There is only One who can help during those troubles and that is the Lord.
In the Psalm we read that He has a "secret place" where He hides us as we turn to Him.
Those periods of despair were times when I had to dig deep into God's Word for hope of rescue from hard trials.
I held onto the fact that:
Psalm 31:15 AMPC
My times are in Your hands; deliver me from the hands of my foes and those who pursue me and persecute me.
On many occasions I have rejoiced in the goodness of God and in His deliverance.
Turn to Him, you will find Him faithful and worthy of total trust.
Psalm 31:23-24 AMPC
O love the Lord, all you His saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, and plentifully pays back him who deals haughtily. [24] Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for and hope for and expect the Lord!
