Psalm 63:1 AMPC

O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.

One of the problems I find in winter is that I don't feel very thirsty. Hence I don't drink enough water! Instead I tend to drink coffee or tea which are diuretics.

So I end up being dehydrated.

All sorts of negative issues stem from that: headaches, irritability, blurred thinking, dizziness etc.

However, in this Psalm, David is speaking of spiritual thirst.

Lots of things in life act like spiritual tea and coffee, masking the real thirst of our souls, and draining away what living water we may have in our spiritual reservoir.

The desire for ambition, pleasure, money, fame, popularity, sensual activities drive us, but, in the end, leave us empty and disappointed.

None of these truly satisfy us!

Like the Rolling Stones wrote in their song: "I can't get no satisfaction"!

Jesus told the crowds at the Feast of Tabernacles:

John 7:37-38 AMPC

Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! He who believes in Me as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow continuously springs and rivers of living water.

Only in Jesus do we find the pure waters of life and the wonderful reality of the continual flow out of our connection with Him!

Perhaps other distractions have masked your inner thirst and you wonder why life lacks lustre...

Isaiah 55:1 AMPC

Wait and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy priceless, spiritual wine and milk without money and without price - simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing.

Jesus will quench your inner thirst and keep you constantly spiritually hydrated.
