Stay faithful

“For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.” But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.

Hebrew 10:37-39

Singer Adele has said she had to end her marriage because she would be “miserable” if she didn't put herself first and pursue her “own happiness”.

Her forthcoming album, 30, which is dedicated to son, is an attempt, she says, to explain to him “who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness”.

The singer is frank about the terrible impact of separation on her child: “It made him really unhappy. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”

She sings: “You can’t deny how hard I tried, I changed who I was to put you both first but now I give up.”

There was nothing particularly wrong with the relationship, she says, but she was worried she would become unhappy if she stayed and didn’t put herself first. “It just wasn’t right for me any more. I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew. I wasn’t miserable miserable, but I would have been had I not put myself first. But, yeah, nothing bad happened or anything like that.”

How truly sad, an "alright" marriage, but today the spirit of the age is: "ME first, no matter how it hurts others"!

Exactly opposite to the Way of Jesus:

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33

Faithfulness is so hard to find.

Above everything else what Jesus wants of us is faithfulness. We may not be talented or loaded with charisma, but as long as we're true to Him, put Him first - He's happy.

Sometimes we need to stay true through gritted teeth, especially when things become hard and uncomfortable.

We are like in a marriage with our Lord and He doesn't want us running off having "affairs" with other lovers, being led astray by bogus teachings or deceived by secularism.

We need to reflect the nature of God:

Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.

Psalm 36:5

There is a solemn warning from Jesus about staying true:

“Staying with it—that’s what God requires. Stay with it to the end. You won’t be sorry, and you’ll be saved. All during this time, the good news—the Message of the kingdom—will be preached all over the world, a witness staked out in every country. And then the end will come.

Matthew 24:13-14

Stay faithful.
